Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the questions we hear most often. If something is missing here, email support.

Why is my price different from my broker's app?

Price data is sourced from public market feeds and is typically delayed by around 15 minutes for stocks and ETFs. Crypto prices update in near real-time. For execution prices, always rely on your broker. Valence is a tracking tool, not a trading interface.

How do I import my transactions?

Open the dashboard, click Import in the top-right toolbar, and select your broker. We support DEGIRO, Trading 212, Interactive Brokers, Revolut, eToro, Freetrade, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, and Bitvavo out of the box, plus a generic CSV mapping for anything else. Each broker's export path is shown in the import dialog.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From the dashboard toolbar, click Export and choose a format: CSV summary, lots detail, transaction history, or a PDF snapshot. Your transaction history is portable, so you can re-import it elsewhere at any time.

Is my data secure?

Your data is per-user isolated, encrypted in transit (TLS), and stored on a dedicated server. Passwords are hashed with Argon2; session cookies are HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict. No analytics or third-party trackers are loaded. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Is Valence free?

There's a free plan that covers everyday tracking. A paid premium plan unlocks the full market-data history and premium features, billed monthly through Stripe. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from Account → Billing; if you cancel, premium access stays active until the end of your current paid period. See our Terms of Service for billing details.

What happens if I close my account?

Account deletion is available from Account → Delete account. All your data (transactions, watchlists, broker settings, OAuth links) is removed in a single cascade delete. Backups containing your data are purged from rotation within 30 days.

Valence is in beta: what does that mean?

We're stable enough for daily use but still polishing the rough edges. Expect occasional data hiccups during market-data outages, feature changes between releases, and a short response window for bug reports (we aim for within 48 hours).

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email [email protected]. Include screenshots or a short reproduction if you can; it helps us fix things faster.
